Engineering

Senior Mobile App Developer

A key component of Netcoins’ product suite is our mobile app. We are looking for a React Native developer capable of maintaining and extending our iOS and Android apps. You will be responsible for architecting and building new features, as well as optimizing existing functionality. You will join a high performing dev team and will collaborate with Product and Customer Success on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Build pixel-perfect, buttery-smooth UIs across both mobile platforms
  • Leverage native APIs for deep integrations with both platforms
  • Diagnose and fix bugs and bottlenecks for performance that feels native
  • Maintain code and write automated tests to ensure the product is of the highest quality

Skills

  • The stack:
    • React Native, Expo
    • Node.js, npm, yarn
    • Android Studio & SDK, Xcode
    • Sentry

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience building iOS and Android apps
  • Ability to write well-documented, clean Javascript code
  • Rock-solid at working with third-party dependencies and debugging dependency conflicts
  • Familiarity with native build tools, like XCode, Gradle, and Android Studio
  • Understanding of REST APIs, websockets, the document request model, and offline storage

Work can be fully remote. We are largely based in the Pacific time zone.

Product

Product Designer (UI/UX)

The Product team is responsible for implementing strategy, building the roadmap, defining/designing product features and launching to market. As a Product Designer, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from brainstorming the next great innovation to tweaking pixels right before launch. You will be expected to utilize your full range of product design, interaction design, and visual design skills, and you will own the experience for a wide area of our portfolio.

To thrive in this role, you are someone who works well in teams and enjoys collaborating. You can work with Product, Customer Success and Engineering to create the best solutions to problems, and can balance delivering high quality experiences to our customers quickly and iteratively.

You like to also work with other designers to provide feedback on their work, and ensure the team is creating a cohesive and consistent design system.

 

Responsibilities

  • Create wireframes, prototypes and designs for new product ideas/features that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like.
  • Design UI for the Netcoins App, web-based dashboard and mobile-responsive channels that meet our customers’ needs.
  • Present the wireframes and prototypes to the Engineering team and answer any clarification questions.
  • Collaborate with the lead Product Manager in defining requirements, building personas, writing concise development specifications and supporting other product ownership tasks as required.
  • Work with the Customer Success team to understand user feedback and conduct layout adjustments based on key priorities.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure brand consistency.
  • Constantly improve your designs by proactively gathering feedback from fellow designers, internal stakeholders and external sources of inspiration and best practice.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience designing mobile, web and mobile-responsive UX / UI.
  • Experience with industry standard design and collaboration tools (Eg. Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Figma, Framer, After Effects, Jira, etc). 
  • Excellent project management skills – able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication skills – our projects can be complex, often starting out quite abstract, so the ability and confidence to grapple with ambiguity and discuss this eloquently with senior stakeholders is essential.
  • Empathy for people – to accurately create user personas, journeys, wireframes and prototypes to inform an effective and positive final experience / design will require you to consider the point of view of a range of different people.
  • Desire to continuously learn!

Finance & HR

Accounting Assistant

We are looking for a full-time Accounting Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time remote working position. 

The Accounting Assistant will report to the VP of Finance and will work with the team in facilitating our growth while being responsible for overseeing daily accounting, finance, and office administration responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable: Enter invoices in accounting software, prepare payment run files and pay invoices periodically
  • Credit card and bank reconciliation: Manage credit card transaction entries, collect invoices to match and reconcile balance periodically, manage entries into accounting software and prepare monthly reconciliation. 
  • Creating new and maintaining existing vendor/contractor records
  • Maintain accounting filings and assist with file migration to cloud
  • Support audit related tasks during year-end audit
  • Assist with administrative tasks where required

Compliance

Deputy Compliance Officer

Based in Vancouver, with flexibility for remote work, and reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, you will have direct contact with our growing team. You will be required to take on a leadership role and to help develop and optimize many of our compliance and operational processes. This role will be expected to build up a team to help support the growth of the department over the next year. Here is a breakdown of what will be expected of you. 

Netcoins is a rapidly maturing company however applicants should expect to “roll up their sleeves” and “get their hands dirty” with frequent operational responsibilities in the day to day role. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with PR, Marketing and Sales teams to ensure all information that goes out is compliant with our licensing
  • Assist with recruitment and vetting for your team & manage existing team members
  • Assist with corporate restructurings
  • Provide guidance when performing acquisitions
  • Serve as the lead to all regulatory inquiries, including provincial, state, federal, and international 
  • Understand evolving regulatory landscape and requirements for FINTRAC and securities commissions
  • Lead and grow a Global Compliance Team
  • Act as a trusted and dedicated advisor to our business and product, with a focus on driving regulatory strategy and team engagement
  • Oversee the management of all compliance issues, including regulatory compliance, consumer compliance, transaction monitoring, quality control, tracking and data privacy
  • Develop and implement risk assessment protocols
  • Create and deliver a compliance training program across the organization
  • Continuously learn and seek out new knowledge 
  • Prepare and present regulatory reports and remediation reports to senior management and the Board of Directors as appropriate
  • Act as Data Protection Officer and take responsibility for consumer data privacy and attendant practices

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Law degree or equivalent expertise is an asset, preferably in securities laws and/or MSBs
  • Located in Vancouver is highly preferred –  located in North America is a must
  • 5+ years of post-undergraduate or post-graduate work experience leading at-scale performance legal teams for capital services organizations. Preferably in a mid-to-large-sized corporate environment; in banking, finance or blockchain industry
  • Completion of Chief Compliance Officer Exam or equivalent preferred. 
  • Knowledge and experience in setting up and implementing company-wide compliance management software
  • Ability to manage a global remote team, and to handle multiple projects/ clients and projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge and experience in the blockchain and/or traditional financial markets space is a plus. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Exceptional management & legal skills
  • Knowledge in establishing and developing remote work processes and a relevant compliance culture.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to check documents for accuracy and communicate detailed changes, given regulatory nature of our industry
  • Strong interest in coaching and mentoring team members 
  • Highly skilled in learning on the job and continuously learning
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
